Michelle to appear as guest judge on new Logo/RuPaul show!

Famed drag queen RuPaul is returning to television with a new reality competition show for Logo.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a competition to find the best drag queen, premieres Feb. 2 on Logo, a network aiming to reach gays and lesbians.

Make no mistake, RuPaul told TV writers here, the show is not inspired by Tyra Bank’s “America’s Next Top Model.”

“She learned everything from me,” RuPaul said. “I let her borrow all my used wigs.”

Ouch.

Fashion designer Bob Mackie, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams will appear on the show as guest judges.

Try the trick Destiny’s Child alum Michelle Williams used to score the fit physique she’s showing off in performances for her new album, Unexpected: a mix of strength moves with speedy bursts of high-intensity cardio. When it comes to getting a better body, this muscle-defining, fat-burning strategy is a huge hit.

The bottom line Williams’s trainer, Jennifer Hogg, put her on the program to prep for a scene in the musical The Color Purple in which Williams had to reveal her butt. “I wanted people to be like, ‘Shame on Michelle, but ooh she looks good,’” says the star. “The results are great.” She kept up the workouts after her theater stint and says she’s proud of the sexy muscle tone she has today: “I’ll be brushing my teeth, see my arm in the mirror and think, cool.”

The plan Every other day, warm up for five minutes by walking or jogging. Do 12 reps of these moves, with two minutes of fast-paced cardio (sprinting or jumping rope) after each exercise.

You’ll need One medium-level resistance band (with or without handles) and a set of 5- to 8-pound dumbbells. Buy them for a bargain price at Spri.com: Enter SELF2009 at checkout from December 20, 2008, through February 7, 2009.

Michelle Williams wants to sing with Justin Timberlake

Michelle Williams would love to record a duet with Justin Timberlake.

The former Destiny’s Child singer admires the ‘SexyBack’ star’s hard working attitude and also his gorgeous body.

She said: “I like Justin Timberlake. He is not only hot, he also has an amazing work ethic. If I met him I would ask him if we could do a duet. By duet, I mean make a record together!”

Although Michelle has a soft spot for Justin, she admits she would rather date a more mature man but doesn’t care what they look like.

She explained: “I want a guy who is older than me – so that rules out Justin, although he is mature for his age. I wouldn’t want anyone older than 34. He doesn’t have to be overly cute because I don’t want him hogging the mirror. He would need to be funny, loyal and have his own career.”

Michelle also revealed she still regularly sees her former bandmates Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland and has added fuel to rumours about the band reforming.

The 28-year-old star added: “Destiny’s Child getting back together certainly hasn’t been ruled out, although we don’t talk about business when we are hanging out – it is just girly gossip.

“We are all busy with solo ventures, but who knows what the future holds?”

Destiny’s Child released their last album ‘Destiny Fulfilled’ in 2004.

‘Tis The Season: Kim Burrell Brings Jesus To Jazz

As a part of the ‘Singers Over Manhattan’ series, gospel dynamo Kim Burrell dazzled New Yorkers with her jazzerific interpretations of holiday classics this past weekend in The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The 36-year-old singer, best described as a modern day Ella Fitzgerald with the Holy Ghost, played four hour-long shows in the 500-seat venue that boasts a 50-foot-high glass facade and a breathtaking view of Central Park and the CNN building.

‘Kim Burrell: A Gospel Christmas’ kicked off with the jubilant ‘Because It’s Christmas’ featuring Pastor Eric McDaniels’ Lord’s Church Choir of the Bronx.

Backed by a four-piece band and a who’s who of singers that included Melonie Daniels, Ayana George, Katrina Spence, Stephanie Oplacio, Jerard Woods and her sister, Kathy Burrell; the Houston native enticed the amazingly diverse crowd with Christmas gems like ‘Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel,’ ‘Walking In A Winter Wonderland,’ ‘What Child Is This,’ and ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.’

Burrell’s renditions of the holiday standards were unique and often transitioned from jazz to Sunday morning in an instant.

After the Grammy nominee’s jovial ‘Jingle Bells’ offering built into a more sanctified ‘Joy Bells,’ she told the crowd: “I’m always going to bring out the Christ in Christmas!”

Burrell shared the stage with the soulful Baltimore-based singer Jason Nelson on Donny Hathaway’s ‘This Christmas’ and the two scatted and exchanged riffs much to the crowds delight.

The former Tommy Boy Records artist shifted into more traditional gospel material midway through her set.

“I like Christmas a lot and I like singing Christmas songs, but I love singing the gospel,” she confessed. “It’s my favorite thing to sing!”

Burrell then performed an a cappella arrangement of hymns including ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness,’ ‘Even Me,’ ‘Draw Me Nearer,’ ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart’ and ‘Thank You Lord.’

She then shared a story about how her mother would sing those songs in the kitchen and around the house before closing out the medley with ‘Is He Satisfied With Me’ and ‘Oh How I Love Jesus.’

The jazz atrium nestled in the Time Warner Center began to feel more like a sanctuary after the Grammy nominee concluded the more sacred selections.

“I need my singers and band to get back up here before I start something, because I feel my gospel-church thing happening,” she suggested.

“I grew up in the Pentecostal Church so we get to quickening,” she continued, while demonstrating the fast-jerking body movement. “It’s that thing that makes some of you say, ‘I feel so warm inside.’ Well, our warmth burns a little hotter and so we quicken.”

Burrell performed ‘Sweet Little Jesus Boy’ and closed the show with an intricate arrangement of ‘Little Drummer Boy.’

Those in attendance, among them Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child and gospel singer James Hall, saluted her with a rousing standing ovation.
